Even though it is a fictional work, it occurs during & touches upon recent events that took place mainly just before the January 2010 earthquake tragedy in Haiti and ended just after the April 2010 BP oil rig fiasco in the Gulf of Mexico.

It is a vigorous & exciting meld of fact with fiction.A newly established Columbian cartel is about to unleash new smuggling ideas that could devastate Americas war against drugs. However, a Mexican-American mafia gang that evolved into a very competitive cartel has plans to foil the Columbians- who must also contend with the presence of a strong CIA, Interpol, and U.S.

Coast Guard collaboration in the Caribbean, as well as the Gulf of Mexico. Finally, a retired New Orleans area Detective accidentally unravels key evidence. The book opens with a man suffering from amnesia who awakens from a then unknown traumatic experience in the middle of the night on a tropical island. He had been working with the CIA & Interpol to intercept shipments of contraband in the Caribbean- as detected by electronic listening posts scattered across the massive area.

Most of the book is a four day flashback about what happened prior to his trauma: The CIA/Interpol rush from island to island in the Caribbean intent on winning this battle- if not the war, on drugs. Other geographic venues are the Gulf of Mexico, Columbia, Ecuador, Central America, Mexico, California, Texas, Cape Cod, and Louisiana. The main plot concerns the newly established Columbian cartel’s leader who devises a long term plan to re-establish control of cocaine distribution routes into the United States by first establishing a legal import/export business, in partnership with Jamaicans & Haitians.

He also nurtures international politics to convince the Chinese to include Columbian, Haitian, & Jamaican ports as stops for Chinas cargo ships before they proceed from the Panama Canal to the Port of Savannah in Georgia. There are several sub plots- all working against the Columbian, including the CIA faction and the leader of a major Mexican-American mafia cartel who devises an amazing competitive plan. Most of the books action involves this sub plot & the following sub plot: While deep-sea fishing, a retired police detective who is living on Louisiana’s Grand Isle inadvertently discovers one of the Mexicans unique methods of getting drugs into New Orleans.

He works closely with the US Coast Guard, only to open a can of worms on a Mexican major project: pirating the Columbian shipments. The ending has many surprises for the reader.
